The Gospel
The Gospel is that Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and resurrected is our Lord! This is the most joyful news in this world.1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
The resurrection of Jesus is the proof God has give to all men!
Acts 17: 30-31 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."
The gospel of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of the faith of the early church. The resurrection is the heart of the gospel. In the book of Acts, with the power of the Holy Spirit, the apostles proclaimed the risen Jesus rather than the dead Jesus(Acts 1:22, 4:33).
Acts 1:22 beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."
Acts 4:33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.
The disciples, who lived with Jesus for 3 years, heard him speak directly, and saw many miracles and wonders, all ran away from the horrible death of Jesus on the cross. Even Peter denied and cursed him. However, the resurrection, God’s winning move, transformed the disciples totally. The resurrection of Jesus changed all their perspectives, and they testified the resurrection with their lives and became martyrs.
The resurrection confirms that Jesus is the living Son of God.
Romans 1:4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
The resurrection is the only proof that the man Jesus is the Almighty God. So when we confirm who Jesus Christ is through the resurrection, then all the words that Jesus has spoken is proven to be the God’s absolute truth and reality.
John 2:22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
The moment Jesus is proclaimed to be my Lord and my God through the resurrection (Acts 2:36), the Holy Spirit convicts the sin of not believing in Jesus and being my own master (John 16:9) and gives true repentance.
Without the resurrection, our faith is futile and we are still in our sins (1 Cor 15:17). Without the resurrection, we cannot believe that Jesus is God Himself. Like this, the resurrection of Jesus is the master key that solves everything in the Bible.
The only answer for this generation is the resurrection (Matthew 12:39). There is nothing but the sign of the Prophet Jonah, the resurrection!
